HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Okay so you've obviously survived 2014, because you're reading this, so Happy New Year!
Now the question is... What's REALLY new?

Every year we all make New Years resolutions, and they rarely last through January. We want to make a change for the better, but the conveniences of life just seem to get in the way.

Some of us want to lose weight, some want to quit smoking or drinking caffeine. Some want to read more, and some want to reach out to people (like me.). This right here is my New Years resolution. As I said in my previous post, I have a lot to say and not really anyone to say it to, so here it is! I want to share my knowledge, I want to hear from you too! Hopefully this resolution sticks though, I've been wanting to do this for years.

Why years? Why did it take me that long? Honestly, I think it was fear. Fear that no one would care, fear that people would have opposing views, and fear that I would fail. Well I say fuck that! If you don't like what I post, that's fine! I'm doing this mainly for myself, and hopefully it catches on! I think I have some pretty awesome stuff to share, and hope to get feedback on!

Maybe you can't do the New Years resolution thing because you know you can't stick to it, and that's okay! It's awesome that you know that it's a weakness for you, and you're okay with admitting that! So how do we fix it? Challenge yourself!!! Step out of your comfort zone!

So what exactly am I getting at?

I want you to challenge yourself. All the time. If you feel really strong, do it daily, but right now I'm going to give you 52 ideas, one for each week of 2015. Please feel free to leave any more challenge ideas in the comments!

Why am I challenging you? Because if you want to change, you need to make it happen, or it never will! Yes, I will be taking on challenges as well (not exactly in the following order or specifically the following, these are just randomly gathered ideas).

  1. Write a "This is what I like about you" note for someone for each day of this week. This will make 7 peoples days really awesome.
  2. Buy the person in line behind you their coffee this week. I've had this happen, and it brought tears to my eyes. Imagine, $2.75 making someone cry happy tears, and you can cause that.
  3. Make a decoration for your living room from scratch. Put a little work in to it each day, and display it on the last day of this week. I promise you will feel proud every time you look at it.
  4. Eat healthy all week, then pig out the last day. It will feel amazing.
  5. Apologize to someone you hurt in the past. Really think about it though, make sure you're sincere.
  6. Learn a new recipe. Make it for a friend.
  7. Talk like a pirate one of the days, just because.
  8. Hold a door open for everyone that goes through behind you. Leave enough time in your day to allot for this.
  9. Sit perfectly still in the quiet for just 5 minutes each day this week.
  10. Take a picture each day of this week of something positive. Share it with others, and hashtag #Mirandas52WeekChallenge (I doubt this will catch on, but hey! You never know!)
  11. Go do karaoke for the first time. Do you usually do karaoke? Bring a friend who's never been, and sing with them so they're comfortable.
  12. Question your own beliefs. What else is a better way to determine whether or not they're TRULY your beliefs, or if that's just what's comfortable and known to you?
  13. Take a walk each day. This is essential for exercise and to just get away for a few minutes.
  14. Choose one day this week. Leave your cellphone off. Don't touch it. Yeah, and I mean all day, from 12am to 11:59pm.
  15. Read a book, from beginning to end. Can't be a book you've read, or one that you've been meaning to read. Make sure it's one that you'd never read normally. Step out of your comfort zone, you may learn something.
  16. Look in the mirror. Tell yourself that you're beautiful, but don't just say it. You have to mean it, because baby, you ARE beautiful, and you should believe it!
  17. Learn how to draw a human face. Can you already draw? Then challenge yourself to something that's known to give you trouble and master that shit!
  18. Hand write a letter to someone you see often. Make it good and meaningful. Tell them how much you appreciate them.
  19. Stick to only cash when buying things this week. Cards and invoices are too damn easy, let's go back to counting dollars and cents instead of just a quick swipe.
  20. Nap under a tree. Yup, lay a blanket down in a park, under a tree. Lay down, and take a small snooze. You'd be amazed at how good it feels.
  21. Donate to a local charity. Don't have the money? That's okay! Time or your old belongings mean just the same!
  22. Turn all of the clothes in your closet to face one way (the hangers). When you wear them, turn them the other way. In 6 months, donate everything still facing the original direction.
  23. Watch a documentary this week about something you didn't know about.
  24. Cook dinner with a friend. Make something obscure that neither of you have ever tried before.
  25. Pick one bad habit you have, and ditch it this week.
  26. Commute using a new way to work/school each day this week.
  27. Post an inspiring quote to your social media every day this week.
  28. Practice a new skill each day this week. There are lots of how to's on the web. Some ideas include knitting, magic tricks, parkour, dance moves, juggling, etc. Just please don't get hurt.
  29. Don't lie. Sounds easy right? I mean not even a fib... I mean if your wife is 9 months pregnant and asks if she looks fat, then by all means please protect your safety, and her feelings!
  30. Don't complain all week. Anything you find negative, turn it around into something positive.
  31. Do something that scares you every day this week. Afraid of snakes? Hold one. Terrified of the dark? Sit in it for 5 minutes. Challenge yourself. Overcome your fears.
  32. Ask a stranger about their life. Who knows what kind of interesting people you see everyday.
  33. Show someone how much you love them instead of just saying it.
  34. Volunteer at your local animal shelter. For double points, make homemade doggie treats prior to going. The doggies will love you for it.
  35. Choose a day to serve your loved one a breakfast in bed. Make sure you clean up afterwards too.
  36. Make a new friend this week.
  37. Choose a day and dress fancy, just for the hell of it. Don't let anyone cramp your style. You're fabulous and you know it!
  38. Buy a meal for a homeless person this week.
  39. Say hello to everyone that you make eye contact with.
  40. Go to a concert of a local band you've never heard of. Buy their album.
  41. Do nothing for a day. Seriously. Sleep in, don't make plans that day. Stay home on the couch wrapped up in a blanket and do a Netflix marathon. I suggest American Horror Story or The Walking Dead.
  42. Do one of those "Draw My Life" challenges. You make a video of your life from beginning to current, all while drawing it out. Don't worry, you don't need to be an artist. Stick figures are accepted.
  43. Forgive someone of a debt they owe you.
  44. Learn to say "Thank you" in another language. Use it daily, and teach someone else.
  45. Recycle everything you can this week. Don't just resort to trashing it.
  46. Find something positive in an activity that you hate. Do it,and enjoy it.
  47. Go on an adventure. Drive somewhere new in the country, talk a hike on a new trail. Don't get lost or eaten by the bear, but enjoy your new surroundings.
  48. Choose a random year in the past. Learn everything you can about it.
  49. Call your parents and ask them about their lives for once. Thank them for everything.
  50. Tell someone something that you've kept bottled up for a long time.
  51. Write down something important that happened in every year that you've been alive.
  52. Make a list of things you want to work on in 2016.

So there it is! There is my 52 weekly challenge ideas! What ideas do you have? Please share in the comments, and of course again- HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Sincerely,
Miranda, XoXo
